How Far Along? 35 Weeks! Only 5 weeks to go! I can’t hardly wait!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +22ish
Baby Related Purchases: We bought primer and paint for the bookshelf that we painted turquoise last week (pics coming soon…) We returned the lamp/lampshade and got a new one. Got a bird painting to go above the rocking chair, and got showered with gifts from the baby shower that my small group threw for me 🙂 Here are a few pics. Lucy got tons of great and useful stuff!
Stretch marks: Don’t think so – but I got a few sample sizes of some stretch mark lotion, so I might try that soon.
Sleep: Not too bad. I get up at least once a night, but normally can go right back to sleep.
Movement: I feel more kicking more often – that’s for sure. Still nothing crazy or painful though.
What I miss: Running/Lifting Weights like I used to (I’m pretty much just walking these days…), bending over, twisting and turning in bed freely – now just getting out of bed is quite an ordeal! Some funny things I can’t do very well anymore include: tying my shoes, painting my toenails, shaving my legs, etc…
Cravings: McDonald’s Berry Smoothie- I love it and have had lots of them recently – so cool and refreshing! I’ve also had a lot of Zaxby’s Grilled Chicken Salads.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope! Thankful for this!
Gender: Girl!
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: My back hurts every morning when I wake up – I think it is from laying on my side the whole night – which I have never liked. Luckily, when I sit up the pain goes away.
Belly Button In or Out? Partially “out” – this is why I am avoiding tight shirts!
Happy or Moody most of the time: This has been a great two weeks! Last week we kind of just recovered from Graduation Week. This week was Memorial Day – we spent it at the lake house and had lots of fun.
Worries: I have been blessed to have a textbook pregnancy so far. I always have measured the right centimeters per week, weight gain has been good, etc. However, this past week, I only grew 1 cm in 2 weeks. I was 33 cm at 34 weeks. Although my doctor said she wasn’t really worried because sometimes “small girls have small babies” – haha- she scheduled me for an ultrasound to make sure the baby is growing okay. Needless to say this gave me a great excuse to worry! So I’ve been doing my best to eat everything in sight over the past few days to make sure this baby is growing on track! And also praying a lot- because I know baby Lucy is in the Lord’s hands.
Best moments this week: Since these are my only blog posts these days, I have a lot to say in this section! Last weekend, we hung out with friends on Friday night – playing games and enjoying dinner together. On Saturday, we ran lots of errands, paid the bills, and I worked on a friend’s website while Jason golfed in the afternoon. That night, we met up with friends at Thunder Over Augusta – a huge military appreciation event with Jason’s favorite activity – fireworks! They really do have an amazing 30-minute, music-choreographed firework show every year that attracts huge crowds! This year they held the event in Evans for the first time and it was really nice and really crowded. We actually ended up walking to Zaxby’s for food since all the food vendors were running out of it! On Sunday, we went to church, had lunch at Chili’s with friends, and then I had my church baby shower.
This past week was pretty busy with work and after work activities. Jason is now working as an intern – at almost full time hours. He took a day off this past week for the Georgia Law part of his licensing process and also helped our friends Michael and Angelyn load up their moving truck this past Wednesday. On Friday we left for the lake house for our long-awaited three day weekend! We had lots of fun with the whole gang (including Kristen’s new step-daughters, Brooke and Kristina) at the lake. On Friday we grilled out hamburgers, on Saturday me and my mom went on a walk, and everyone went on the boat (we had to go in two shifts since there was 11 of us and only 9 can go in the boat at a time). Over the weekend, I spent a lot of time reading baby/parenting books, went shopping a little with my mom, etc. Jason spent a fair amount of time helping my dad with projects around the house – this time they worked on fixing the loading part of the boat dock/lift. Overall it was fun to just hang out and talk with everyone. We’re already sad the visit is over!
Looking forward to: My next baby shower next weekend in Atlanta!
Size of Baby: Your baby weighs nearly 5.5 pounds and will continue to gain about half a pound per week until you deliver. He or she stretches out to 18.5 inches and stem cells in the bone marrow continue to produce red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets to maintain a healthy immune system, but there is not really any development remaining for arms, legs, brain or organs. Your baby will simply continue to add that adorable baby fat as it readies for its big debut.
